Natural Home Remedies for Constipation Relief

Not being able to empty your bowels even after sitting in the washroom for a long time is very frustrating and painful. Constipation is a very common problem faced by people of all ages. Coffee – If you like coffee, then you need not worry about constipation, since a cup of coffee can make you run to the washroom and it also helps to make the stool soft and thus make it easier to pass! Coffee stimulates the muscles of the colon and aloe helps to regulate the contraction and relaxation of the muscles of the intestines.

 
3. Aloe Vera – Considered as one of the fastest and most effective remedies or constipation, aloe vera can be taken in the form of juice or gel. Juice can be squeezed out from the gel found in the thick aloe vera leaves. Small doses of the aloe vera juice help to soften the stool and make it easier to pass. It also speeds up the digestion of proteins in the body and makes the intestinal muscles strong. Aloe latex can also be used as a laxative. Aloe latex increases the water content o the intestines and thus helps in secreting mucus. This helps in intestinal peristalsis and the food breaks easily and is chimed. 4. Baking soda – Baking soda is not just required for making your cakes fluffy; it also helps to release all that excess gas from the body and get relief from constipation! It has an alkalizing effect on the stomach and it neutralizes the acids. This helps to pass all the stored waste from the intestines with much ease.

Just warm ¼ cup of water and add a teaspoon of baking soda to it. Drink this mixture early in the morning on an empty stomach and forget constipation forever. You can also add 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice to this mixture. Lemon juice helps to eliminate all the toxins from the colon and facilitates digestion.

 
5. Yogurt – Robotic yogurt has become really popular recently. Packed with minerals and vitamins, probiotic curd contains friendly bacteria that are very beneficial for the digestive system. Probiotic yogurt helps in maintaining a healthy gut.

1-2 cups of yogurt every day can help to keep constipation at bay. You may have a cup with breakfast. Another way to eat yogurt is to add some chopped onions, tomatoes and cucumbers along with grated ginger, garlic, and a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of lemon. Not only is it really delicious, this dip is full of roughage as well!

 
6. Figs – Adding a few figs to your daily diet can help to provide relief from constipation since they are made up of insoluble fibers. Insoluble fiber makes the stool bulky which passes through the intestines much easily.

Boil a cup of milk along with a few figs. Wait for the milk to cool down a bit and drink it before going to bed. But don’t overdo it. Just 2-3 figs a day are enough to get you going!

Sesame seeds can easily be added to salads in our everyday routine. Ground sesame seeds can make an excellent seasoning on various Indian curries. You can also chew some sesame seeds if you’re suffering from constipation.

 
8. Ginger tea – Known for its carminative properties, ginger is a natural laxative and thus a cup of ginger tea is an effective remedy for constipation. Ginger tea helps to stimulate the appetite to some extent and also helps to regulate the activity of the bowels. It helps to promote digestion and strengthen the stomach. Ginger tea also helps to pass intestinal wind and thus helps to tranquilize the intestinal tract.

To prepare ginger tea, boil one cup of water and add 2 teaspoons of freshly grated ginger. Simmer for 5 minutes and then turn off the flame. 2-3 cups of ginger tea a day can help to get rid o constipation.

 
9. Radish – An excellent source of roughage, radish can help to provide relief from constipation. Radishes are full of antioxidants and also have lots of carbohydrates, which help in digestion and also help to retain water. It pushes out excess bile juice from the body and also detoxifies the liver.
